Jefferson City Allied Waste customers will see an increase in their rates.
In a news release issued Monday, company officials said residents with a 64 gallon waste cart will see their cost of service increase by $6.23 per year starting with their November invoice.
This amounts to a 3 percent increase.
The cost of other residential carts will increase 3 percent as well.
The price increased is tied to the consumer price index for water, sewer and trash collection, which is mandated by the U.S. Department of Labor for a 4.4 percent increase.
However, due to the current economic conditions and at the request of Mayor Eric Struemph, Allied declined to seek the full increase.
