Scouts to pick up food donations

Boy Scout groups will collect donations locally for the Scouting for Food program Saturday.

Scouts and leaders have been placing information tags on residential doors. Donors should fill a bag with nonperishable food items, and place it and the information tag outside their front door before 9 a.m.

Scouts will collect the donations and deliver them to Samaritan Center, First United Methodist Church, Salvation Army and Union Hill Baptist Church in Holts Summit.

Items most needed include: peanut butter, dry cereal, oatmeal, canned vegetables and fruits, beans, pasta, macaroni, canned meats, fish, soup and chili. Do not place glass items in the bag.

If your bag is not picked up, you can deliver it to C&R Supermarkets, Country Market, Gerbes or your local food bank.
