Eugene Girls Tournament gets under way

EUGENE - California, Blair Oaks and Boonville were winners Monday on the first night of the Eugene Girls Basketball Tournament.

Kelsey Roush and Kaya Allison both scored 15 points as top-seeded California rolled to an 84-22 over No. 6 Versailles.

The Lady Pintos (1-1) jumped out to a 27-3 lead after one quarter and had a 51-14 lead at halftime.

Brittini Mairm paced Versailles (0-1) with seven points.

Second-seeded Blair Oaks had little trouble with the fifth-seeded host school, nabbing a 53-25 win.

The Lady Falcons raced out to a 22-6 lead after one quarter, stretched it to 28-11 at halftime and went up 47-14 after three quarters.

Sara Jones paced Blair Oaks (1-0) with 15 points, while LeeAnn Polowy added 12.

Boonville placed three players in double figures as the third-seeded Lady Pirates claimed a 61-43 win over No. 4 Russellville.

Morgan Edwards scored 14 points, Aly Wessing chipped in 12 and Paige Peterson added 11 to lead the Lady Pirates.

Boonville led 37-29 after the third quarter before outscoring Russellville 24-14 in the final period.

A.J. Grellner scored a game-high 22 points to lead Russellville.

In action today, Versailles will play Eugene at 5 p.m. On Wednesday, Blair Oaks and Boonville will play at 5 p.m. and California will face Russellville at 6:30 p.m.
