Blue Tigers lose softball contests to Pittsburg State

It was an error that made the difference for Lincoln University on Saturday.

Pittsburg State pushed a run across in the bottom of the eighth inning thanks to a Lincoln error on its way to a 4-3 victory against the Blue Tigers.

Lincoln took a 2-0 lead in the second on a home run by Clair Lorenz. After Pittsburg State took the lead with a pair of home runs in the third, Lincoln tied it at 3 in the fifth on an RBI single by Erin Sommerer.

It stayed that way until the eighth.

Lorenz took the loss in the circle. She allowed four runs on six hits.

Pittsburg State completed the sweep with a 6-0 victory in the second game.

Lincoln got nine hits but couldn't push a run across.

The Gorillas, who had 12 hits, got single tallies in the second and third, followed by four in the fifth to put the game away.

Starr McLeod took the loss. She allowed five runs and nine hits in four innings.

Lincoln (14-19-1, 6-14 Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association) is back in action Tuesday at Northwest Missouri State.
