Scott County Central nips Drexel for Class 1 boys title

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Dominique Porter scored 28 points to lead four players in double figures as Scott County Central won its fourth consecutive Missouri Class 1 boys' state title with a 79-72 victory over Drexel.

Scott County Central (22-10) scored 14 unanswered points to end the first half and build a 38-27 lead after trailing by seven in the first quarter. Drexel hung around in the second half, narrowing the deficit to 63-61 on a Javyn Johnston jumper with 3:46 remaining.

Scott County Central answered with eight consecutive points to pull away.

Drexel's Craig Bolton scored 35 points, including the first 13 for the Bobcats (26-5), who lost for the first time in 10 games.

Larandis Banks added 20 points for Scott County Central, whose 16 titles are the most of any school in Missouri.
