LU seeking share of Home Depot grants

Lincoln University is one of 66 historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) competing for a share of $185,000 in grants from Home Depot.

The Retool Your School grant program provides funding to HBCUs to complete campus improvement projects. Schools will be selected for the grants through a combination of the number of online votes they receive, as well as input from the Home Depot Advisory Board.

The top grant winner will receive $50,000. Eleven schools will be awarded $10,000.

Home Depot has also announced the $25,000 Campus Pride Grant, which will be awarded to the school with the most online votes.

Lincoln University has submitted three projects for consideration.

The major project, should the school win the top grant, would allow the university to enhance the campus greenway with trees, landscaping and benches.

A second project, which would be funded with the $10,000 grant, would improve the landscaping around Elliff Hall, which houses the School of Nursing and JCTV.

The Campus Pride grant would be used for outdoor beautification projects around the campus.

Online voting is available through April 10 at www.retoolyourschool.com.
