DETROIT (AP) - The Detroit Red Wings won an NHL-record 21st straight home game, beating the Dallas Stars 3-1 on Tuesday night.
Henrik Zetterberg and Brad Stuart scored midway through the first period for the Red Wings, who broke the mark of 20 set by the Boston Bruins during the 1929-30 season, and matched by the Philadelphia Flyers in 1976.
Fans at Joe Louis Arena gave the team a standing ovation in the final minute and were chanting: "21! 21!" After the game, the Red Wings raised their sticks to acknowledge the cheering fans.
Joey MacDonald made 20 saves, filling in again for the injured Jimmy Howard, and was 32.8 seconds away from his third NHL shutout.
Adam Burish scored and Kari Lehtonen stopped 34 shots for the Stars.
RANGERS 3, BRUINS 0
BOSTON (AP) - Henrik Lundqvist made 42 saves for his NHL-leading seventh shutout of the season, and the New York Rangers beat Boston to widen the gap between the top two teams in the Eastern Conference.
The Rangers won their fourth straight game and opened a nine-point lead over Boston in the East.
Ryan Callahan scored for the sixth time in four games, and Ryan McDonagh and Artem Anisimov also had goals for the Rangers, who were outshot 42-20. It was Lundqvist's 42nd career shutout.
Tim Thomas made 17 saves for the Bruins, who are 6-7-1 in their last 14 games.
The Rangers won their second straight game in Boston this season, and Lundqvist has been a big reason why. He also beat the Bruins 3-2 in overtime on Jan. 21, and he is 18-5-2 against them in his career, with six shutouts.
DEVILS 4, SABRES 1
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Ilya Kovalchuk had three goals and an assist, and Martin Brodeur stopped 29 shots in leading New Jersey over Buffalo.
Petr Sykora broke a 1-1 tie 1:44 into the third period, and the Devils extended their road winning streak to five - their best stretch since winning five straight last February.
The Devils, sixth in the Eastern Conference, are 6-1-2 in their past nine games. They are one point behind division rivals Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
Kovalchuk completed his hat trick with an empty-netter with 9 seconds left.
Jason Pominville scored for the Sabres, who have lost two straight following a 5-0-1 run.
BLUE JACKETS 2, BLUES 1
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Derek Dorsett's third-period goal lifted Columbus over St. Louis.
A potential tying goal by St. Louis with 1.8 seconds left was disallowed. A scrum in the final seconds resulted in a pileup in the crease. Video replays showed the Blues' David Perron falling on top of prone Blue Jackets goalie Steve Mason, and then shoving the puck into the net.
After a lengthy review, the goal was disallowed.
Mason had 31 saves, and James Wisniewski scored a power-play goal with 0.1 seconds left in the first period for Columbus.
David Backes scored his 17th goal for the Blues, who had a four-game winning streak snapped.
SENATORS 4, LIGHTNING 0
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Jason Spezza had three goals and an assist, Craig Anderson made 28 saves, and Ottawa beat Tampa Bay.
Spezza made it 2-0 during a power play at 16:32 of the second. The center extended the lead to 3-0 with 7:23 left in the third, and completed the hat trick with an empty-net goal.
Anderson is 6-1-2 against Tampa Bay. He has beaten the Lightning in all three meetings this season.
Erik Karlsson added a goal and an assist for Ottawa, which is 2-0-1 after an 0-6-1 stretch.
Mathieu Garon made a pad save on Kyle Turris' penalty shot midway through the third for the Lightning, who are 1-3-1 in their past five games.
Anderson turned aside 11 shots, including a pair by Martin St. Louis, in the second. He has two shutouts this season and 18 in his NHL career.
DUCKS 2, WILD 1
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Corey Perry scored the tiebreaking goal at 12:21 of the third period, Jonas Hiller stopped 17 shots, and Anaheim handed Minnesota its fifth straight loss.
The Wild led 1-0 after two periods, but Niklas Hagman tied it at 8:17 of the third, and Perry swooped in to beat Josh Harding and give Anaheim the lead for good.
Dany Heatley scored his team-leading 19th goal, but the Wild couldn't generate much offense the rest of the game.
Minnesota has scored just seven goals in six games and is 5-16-5 since Dec. 13.
Hiller recovered nicely after allowing Heatley's early goal and improved to 11-2-3 in his last 16 games. The Ducks won for the first time this season when trailing after two periods.
PREDATORS 3, BLACKHAWKS 2
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Ryan Ellis scored the go-ahead goal in the third period and added an assist as Nashville handed Chicago its ninth straight loss.
Ryan Suter and Nick Spaling also scored for the Predators.
Bryan Bickell and Marian Hossa scored for the slumping Blackhawks, who are on an 0-8-1 skid.
Ellis' goal was a one-timer from high above the right circle at 14:18 of the third period.
Hossa tied it at 2-2 with a wrist shot from above the right circle at 6:05 of the third. It was his 21st goal of the season.
ISLANDERS 3, JETS 1
WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) - P.A. Parenteau scored early in the third period, Evgeni Nabokov made 37 saves, and the New York Islanders defeated Winnipeg.
Parenteau redirected a shot by Milan Jurcina for his 12th goal and 50th point of the season at 1:36 of the third period.
Matt Moulson also scored for the Islanders (24-24-8) with his team-leading 25th goal of the season. Matt Martin sealed the victory with an empty-netter with 53 seconds left that was assisted by Parenteau.
Chris Thorburn scored for Winnipeg (26-26-6), and Ondrej Pavelec made 22 saves.
FLAMES 5, MAPLE LEAFS 1
CALGARY, Alberta (AP) - Miikka Kiprusoff made 41 saves, and Calgary routed Toronto.
Alex Tanguay had a goal and two assists, Paul Byron scored on a penalty shot in the second period, and Olli Jokinen, Jarome Iginla and Blake Comeau added goals for the Flames (27-22-8), who have won two straight.
Calgary is 4-0-2 in its past six games to pull within one point of eighth-place Phoenix in the Western Conference playoff race.
Tyler Bozak scored for the Maple Leafs (28-23-6), who have lost four straight and are clinging to eighth place in the Eastern Conference - one point ahead of Washington.
