By the end of the month, the Cole County Commission could reduce the property tax levy for the county general fund for the fourth year in a row.
A public hearing will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, on the proposed 2012 rates for the general revenue and road and bridge funds.
The proposed rate for the general revenue fund is 10.96 cents for each $100 of assessed property value. The 2011 rate was 11.51 cents. The rate for the 2012 road and bridge tax levy would stay the same in 2012 as it was in 2011, 27 cents per $100 assessed valuation.
