HARRISON, N.J. (AP) - The New York Red Bulls' trade for Dwayne De Rosario has already paid off, after the midfielder set up a goal in a 1-1 draw with Houston on Saturday night.
The Red Bulls acquired De Rosario from Toronto FC on Friday for Tony Tchani, Danleigh Borman and a draft pick. They hoped he could create chances for Thierry Henry and Juan Agudelo, but started off by feeding Dane Richards for a goal in the 47th minute against the Dynamo.
Cam Weaver tied it in the 50th minute when Red Bulls goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul, making his first start, ventured too far out of goal.
Weaver had just replaced Brian Ching, who hurt his ribs in a collision with Coundoul.
The Red Bulls (1-0-2) moved into second place in the Eastern Conference, a point behind Philadelphia. The Dynamo (0-1-2) remained in last place.
Chivas USA 1, Toronto FC 1
TORONTO (AP) - Alan Gordon scored the equalizer against his former team, helping Toronto FC earned the draw.
Alejandro Moreno scored for Chivas USA less than three minutes into the game, netting a goal from about 10 yards out after a poor clearing effort by Toronto's defense.
Chivas had a few terrific scoring chances over the minutes that followed, including a header from Justin Braun in the sixth minute that grazed the top of Stefan Frei's net.
Gordon gave the red-clad BMO Field crowd of 18,568 something to cheer in the 36th minute, sending a perfectly timed header past goalkeeper Dan Kennedy.
The goal came about 10 minutes after another Gordon header went off the post. Toronto acquired him from Chivas for midfielder Nick LaBrocca in a trade last month.
Sporting Kansas City 3, Vancouver 3
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) - Brazilian striker Camillo Sanvezzo scored twice in injury time, giving Vancouver a draw.
Vancouver trailed 2-0 after Teal Bunbury scored his second goal in the 58th minute, and Kei Kamara added another in the 63rd for Kansas City (1-1-1).
Atibi Harris started the comeback 10 minutes later, and Sanvezzo, making his MLS debut in place of suspended striker Eric Hassli, scored twice in extra time as the expansion Whitecaps (1-1-1) salvaged their first tie in Major League Soccer.
Both teams were without their designated players. Vancouver's Hassli and Sporting KC's Omar Bravo both followed two-goal performances in season-opening victories with ejections last week.
Bunbury was booed lustily every time he touched the ball. His father, Alex, is in the Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame, but Teal recently decided to play for the United States instead.
Timbers 1, Revolution 1
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) - Jack Jewsbury scored in the 38th minute and the expansion Timbers earned their first point in Major League Soccer.
Jewsbury tied it with a left-footed drive into the far right corner after a nice touch pass from Jeremy Hall.
Portland lost its first two MLS games, 3-1 at Colorado on March 19 and 2-0 at Toronto FC last Saturday.
New England (1-0-2) took the lead in the 22nd minute when rookie midfielder Stephen McCarthy scored his first career MLS goal, a drive into the lower left corner after Portland's David Horst had headed the ball out.
New England's Sainey Nyassi had a chance in the 21st minute, kicking the ball off the Portland crossbar. Timbers midfielder Kalif Alhassan drilled a direct kick off the left post in the 70th minute.
Galaxy 1, Union 0
CARSON, Calif. (AP) - Leonardo scored his first career MLS goal to lead the Galaxy.
The Brazilian defender converted a header in the box off David Beckham's free kick in the 33rd minute. It was the first goal allowed this season by the Union.
The Galaxy (2-1-1) made the lead stand despite playing most of the second half a man down following a red card to midfielder Chris Birchall in the 53rd minute. Beckham earned a yellow card in the 90th for delaying play.
Philadelphia (2-1-0) entered having won two straight for the first time since joining the league as an expansion team last year.
Landon Donovan was back in the Galaxy lineup after missing last week's 4-1 road loss to Real Salt Lake because of national team duties.
Earthquakes 2, Sounders 2
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) - Khari Stephenson scored the tying goal in the 52nd minute, as the Earthquakes kept the Sounders winless.
Brad Evans and O'Brian White each scored first-half goals for Seattle (0-2-2), which was playing without injured star forward Fredy Montero.
Evans connected from point-blank range in the 17th minute off a feed from Mauro Rosales, and White used a diving header to send home Steve Zakuani's floating cross in the 42nd minute.
Newly acquired Earthquakes midfielder Simon Dawkins, on loan from Tottenham Hotspur of the English Premier League, scored his first MLS goal in the 32nd minute to keep San Jose (1-1-1) close. Stephenson came on after halftime to score the equalizer.
