Infineon earnings, revenue rise sharply

BERLIN (AP) - Semiconductor maker Infineon Technologies AG says its net earnings for the July-September quarter surged as revenue climbed by more than half in an improving economy and the company booked a gain on tax assets.

Infineon, based in Neubiberg, Germany, said Tuesday it earned 390 million ($532 million) in its fiscal fourth quarter - up from 11 million a year earlier.

Revenue from continuing operations rose to 942 million from 609 million. Infineon says it had a one-time benefit of 69 million resulting from deferred tax assets.

Infineon says that it will propose a dividend of 10 euro cents per share for the financial year "in recognition of the company's favorable operating performance in the 2010 fiscal year and its comfortable cash position."
