A Holts Summit teenager died following a two-vehicle collision on Wednesday evening in Cole County.

The Missouri Highway Patrol reports Samantha L. Scott, 16, was pronounced dead at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City after the crash, which occurred at 5:20 p.m. in the westbound lanes of four-lane U.S. 54 at Heritage Highway.

The initial patrol report indicates she was driving southbound as her car pulled into the path of a westbound pickup truck driven by Matthew R. Chick, 33, Eugene. Her car was struck broadside.

Chick received moderate injuries and was taken to Capital Region for treatment.

Miss Scott was a student at Helias Catholic High School in Jefferson City.
