Randal Lee Stephens, 60, of Jefferson City, passed away, Monday, September 29, 2014, at Boone Hospital. He was born on June 27, 1954, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of the late Lester and Olivia (Schroeder) Stephens. He attended Jefferson City Public High School. During his career he was a forest firefighter in the Pacific Northwest, he was a handyman and also worked in fruit orchards in Arizona. Randal enjoyed being in the outdoors and loved nature, bird watching, reading, playing the guitar and traveling the country. He is survived by: two sisters, Jeanie Holt of Jefferson City and Diane Hagenhoff (Phil) of Russellville; one aunt; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Randal was preceded in death by: his parents; two sisters, Marleen Hemmel and Donna Stephens; and one brother, DeWayne Stephens. As a final act of kindness, Randal chose to donate his body to science in the hope that this may help others. Family will receive friends 6-7 p.m., Thursday, October 2, 2014, at Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m., with Pastor Julia Will officiating.
