Donald Wright "Don" Russel Jr.

Donald Wright "Don" Russel Jr., 62, of Holts Summit, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 28, 2014, at the University of Missouri Hospital & Clinics in Columbia. He was born November 12, 1951, in Jacksonville, Ill., a son of the late Donald W. Russel Sr. and Romina Vesta (Vestal) Russel. Don was united in marriage on August 14, 1971, at Faith Lutheran Church in Jefferson City, to Joann R. Royer, who survives at their home. Don was a proud 36 year member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 513. Don was a Faithful member, usher and trustee of Grace Lutheran Church, Holts Summit, Mo. He was also, a member of the Harley Owners Group. He was a past member of the Holts Summit Lions Club. Don loved crappie fishing and riding his motorcycle. Along with his wife Joann, Don is also survived by one brother, Gordon R. Russel Sr.; brother-in-law, Dwayne Batye; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and cousins. Don was preceded in death by a son, Bryan S. Russel on July 1, 2001; his parents; grandparents; and nephew, Gordon Russel Jr. Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, October 2, 2014, at Slater-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Holts Summit. Additional Visitation will be held from 9:30-10 a.m., Friday at Grace Lutheran Church in Holts Summit. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, October 3, 2014, at Grace Lutheran Church in Holts Summit, with Rev. Michael John Diener officiating.
