Mary Jane (Nentwig) Bauer, 78, of Holts Summit, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2019, at Medical Center Virginia, in Richmond Virginia, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 31, 1941, in Jefferson City, a daughter of the late Paul and Jane (Rice) Nentwig. Mary Jane was united in marriage to Robert Bauer on October 21, 1961, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jefferson City. Mary Jane graduated from Helias High School. She worked for Central Bank in the Proof Department and a short time for the State of Missouri. She was a merchandising agent for Phillip-Morris but was a homemaker to her four beautiful sons. Mary Jane enjoyed being outdoors in the garden growing prize tomatoes and took pride in her well-manicured yard. She was an avid Bingo player at the Knights of Columbus Hall in St. Martins, loved going on Vegas trips to the casinos and enjoyed all water activities with the family at their Indian Creek area lake home. Most of all, Mary cherished the time spent with her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Robert; sons: Michael (Kathy) Bauer of Blue Springs, Stephen (Michelle) Bauer of Grain Valley and Greg (Wendy) Bauer of Mesa, Arizona and Scott Bauer of Garden City, Kansas; sisters: Paulette Davis (Everett) of Paradise Valley, Arizona, Patty Wankum (Dr. Robert) of Jefferson City, Rosie Dey (Gary) of Jefferson City and Rita Turley of Jefferson City; grandchildren: Christopher (Anna) Bauer, Courtney Bauer, Whitney Nixdorf (Tyler), Jessie Cutler (Josh), Lindsey Bauer, Sidney Bauer, Matthew Bauer (Diana) and Scott Patrick Bauer II and six great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2019, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors with a Prayer Service at 3:15 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2019, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fr. Don Antweiler officiating. Entombment will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery immediately following. Expressions of sympathy can be made to the American Cancer Society or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
