Arnold Eugene Moreland

Arnold Eugene Moreland, 83, of Holts Summit, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at Fulton Nursing and Rehab in Fulton, Missouri. He was born on August 12, 1935, in Lanes Prairie, Missouri, son of Gilbert and Ethel Irene (Mosher) Moreland. He was united in marriage to Ann Koerber in 1957, in Brinktown, Missouri. He attended school in Vienna and served our country proudly in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Germany in 1958-1960. Arnold graduated from the Highway Patrol Academy and worked for the Missouri State Highway Patrol from May of 1953 until his retirement in September 1990. He was a man of the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He attended many Bluegrass festivals but most of all treasured the time spent with his friends and family. Arnold is also survived by his wife: Ann Moreland; daughter: Cheryl (Rick) Gray of Columbia; son: Randy (Deborah Joy) Moreland of New Bloomfield; brother: Rainey (Till) Moreland of St. James; grandchildren: Michelle (Eric) Merriman of Columbia and Dillon Moreland of Fulton; great-grandson: Easton Merriman; seven step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother and father: brother: Bob Moreland; sister: Wynette Southard and infant brother: Johnnie. Friends will be received from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Slater-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Holts Summit. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Slater-Millard Family Funeral Chapel with Fr. Joe Corel officiating. Entombment will be following the service at the Riverview Mausoleum. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
