Emil L. Vahrenberg

Emil L. Vahrenberg, 91, of Jefferson City, formerly of Chamois, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 7, 2019, at Oak Tree Villas in Jefferson City with his family at his side. Emil was born on December 14, 1927, in Chamois, a son to the late Fritz and Emma (Krueger) Vahrenberg. Emil attended school in Chamois, served in the United States Army and later received his GED. On May 22, 1949, in St. Louis, Emil was united in marriage to Vivian Curtie, who survives at their home. Emil was employed for almost 26 years at Central Electric Power Plant in Chamois until his retirement. Emil was a lifelong member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Chamois, an active member of the Osage County Historical Society, Chamois Masonic Lodge #185, and a former member of the Chamois Lions Club. Emil enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, antique tool collector and in his earlier days he was a farmer. In addition to his spouse of 69 years, Emil is survived by: two daughters, Denise Kuebler and her husband Dennis of Jefferson City and Paulette Reynolds and her husband Gary of Jamestown; four grandchildren, Dawn (Jim) Vaughn, Melody (Dwayne) Croy, Dustin (Amy) Kuebler and Cory (Misti) Reynolds; nine great-grandchildren, Danielle, Emma and Samuel Vaughn, Brett and Kacie Kuebler, Hailey and Evan Croy, and Alyssa and Gage Reynolds; two brothers-in-law, Owen Lunsford Jr. of Jefferson City and Al Sprecklemeyer of Washington; along with many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant twins, Steven and Sharon Vahrenberg; a brother, Earl Vahrenberg; and three sisters, Ruby Harshaw, Lucille Whertvine and Eileen Sprecklemeyer. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2019, at Morton Chapel in Chamois with a Masonic Service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2019, at St. John's United Church of Christ in Chamois with Rev. Don Deeker officiating. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow in the St. John's United Church of Christ Cemetery near Chamois.
