Norma Jean Uhlmann, 81, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 21, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 23, 1938, in Howell County, Missouri, a daughter of John and Alice (Davis) McCrory, who preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Jerry B. Uhlmann on December 31, 1961, at the First Baptist Church of West Plains. She excelled in academics by finishing Valedictorian of her 1956 graduating class and graduating from college in three years with degrees in Business and English. She taught at several locations due to being in a military family, which included schools in Willard, Kansas City, Excelsior Springs and El Paso, Texas. After moving to Jefferson City, she worked at the Missouri State Legislature for three sessions and then as an accountant for the Public School Retirement System until her retirement in 1989 due to health reasons. Norma enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, playing Bridge, cheering on the Mizzou Tigers, St. Louis Cardinals, Kanas City Royals and Chiefs, but spending time with her beloved grandchildren is time she cherished the most. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jerry; sons: Jeffrey (Annette) of Holts Summit, Scott (Sandy) of Jefferson City, and Kirk (Kathy) of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister: Janice McCrory of Jefferson City; grandchildren: Zachary, Max, Tessa, Kent and Ashley Uhlmann and step-granddaughter; Di Zhu. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Faye Rasmussen and Robert McCrory. Friends will be received from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 26, 2019, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Funeral service will immediately follow at 10:00 a.m. with Mr. Joe Ulveling officiating. Entombment will be at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens Chapel of Peace Mausoleum. Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or the American Heart Association.
