William Kenneth Chambers, 91, of Jefferson City, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born on October 17, 1927 in Beggs, Oklahoma, a son of the late Kenneth and Helen (Carroll) Chambers. He was united in marriage to Mattie Chambers in December 1983. Kenney attended Kansas Schools and served his country in the United States Army. While serving in the military he received his Parachutist badge and later was honorably discharged. He worked on the railroad for many years and retired from Amtrak as a conductor in November of 1992. He was also a member of Second Christian Church. Kenney is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mattie; his children: Jeffrey Chambers (Pam) of Memphis, Tennessee, Cynthia Holmes (Glenn) of Kansas City, and Valeata Sowell of Kansas City, Kansas; his step-children: Esau Chambers Jr. (Katrina) of Springfield, Missouri and Jacquelyn Chambers of Dallas, Texas; his sister: Lena Dedmon of Kansas City; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at the Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Road, Leavenworth, KS 66048.
