Mrs. Margaret A. "Marge" Hunton, age 95 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018, at Jefferson City Manor. Marge was born December 31, 1922, in Jefferson City, Mo., the daughter of August F. and Matilda (DeBroeck) Lutkewitte. She was married on January 20, 1947, in Jefferson City, Mo. to Paul H. Hunton who preceded her in death on September 2, 2003. A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Marge was a 1940 graduate of Jefferson City High School. She was employed as a bookkeeper by Sexton Motor Company, Radio Station KWOS, KRCG TV and News Tribune Company before retiring in 1976. Marge was also proud to help with her family business, Tyler's Lock and Key Service, Inc., as their bookkeeper from 1953 until 2005. She was a faithful member of St. Peter Catholic Church; past president and member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Post 1003; the American Legion Auxiliary, Roscoe Enloe Post 5; the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Auxiliary, Aerie #2693; and the Elks Lodge #513. Marge, known for her beautiful white hair and smile to match, enjoyed traveling to any casino (being partial to slot machines), watching the St. Louis Cardinals and playing spot rummy. Most importantly, she cherished her time with her family, especially anytime at the cabin on the Lake of the Ozarks, welcoming many friends for a weekend or just to drop by for a beer. In her earlier years she was an avid bowler, as well as a Girl Scout leader for Sharon and a Den Mother for Kevin's Cub Scout den. Survivors include: one daughter, Sharon McFerron (husband Harvey) of Jefferson City, Mo.; one son, P. Kevin Hunton (wife Marybeth) of Jefferson City, Mo.; six grandchildren, Michael McFerron (wife Abbie), Kyla Schrimpf (husband Craig), Paul McFerron (wife Alexis), Kara Higgins (husband Denny), Joey McFerron (fiancée Missy Creed) and Karli Hunton (Gus Stuppy); and six great-grandchildren, Taryn, Scotty, Hailey, Keaton, Araia, Carter, and Emmy. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 56 years, Paul; one brother, James F. Lutkewitte; one sister, Helen Mae Laster; and one grandson, Paul Felix Hunton. Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2018, with a prayer service conducted at 4:00 p.m. in the Freeman Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Reverend Charles D. Pardee officiating. Graveside services and entombment will be held at the Mausoleum of Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Peter Catholic Church or the Samaritan Center.
