Sylvia A. Farmer, age 88, passed from this life at Seneca House, Seneca, Missouri on Friday, March 9, 2018. Sylvia was born on the family farm near Eugene, Missouri on August 27, 1929, the daughter of Lester and Wilda Henley. She married Freeman L. Farmer on July 16, 1949, in Eldon, Missouri. She was employed by the Missouri State Treasure's Office in Jefferson City, Mo. from 1949 to her retirement in 1995. After retirement she and Freeman moved to Joplin to be closer to her family. Sylvia was a member of Harmony Heights Baptist Church in Joplin, Missouri. Survivors include one son, Curt Farmer and his wife Debbie of Peoria, Ariz., one grandson, Blake Farmer and his wife Glysa of Phoenix, Ariz. and one expected great-granddaughter, Brightlyn Faith Farmer. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, George (Wilburn) Henley, James (Paul) Henley; sisters, Nancy (Juanita) Murphy and Wanda Lou Davenport. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Harmony Heights Baptist Church in Joplin, Mo. or Cornerstone Baptist Church in Jefferson City, Mo. in care of the mortuary. Services have been scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2018, at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Chaplain David Schepper, will officiate. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation prior to the service starting at 10:00 a.m. Friday. Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Spring Garden Cemetery in Eugene, Mo. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
