Loretta Gayle Clardy-VanDoren

Loretta Gayle Clardy-VanDoren, age 78, Wake Forest, North Carolina, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018, in Wake Forest, North Carolina. Gayle was born May 10, 1939, in Jefferson City, Mo., the daughter of the late Lawrence F. and Gladys M. Clardy. She was a 1957 graduate of Jefferson City Senior High. She attended Culver Stockton College and graduated from the University of Missouri. Gayle was a former member of First Baptist Church, Jefferson City, and a member of the Eastern Star. She was a very caring person, retiring early from the Post Office in Geneva, Ill. to return to Jefferson City to be the caregiver for her mother. She is survived by a son, Eric VanDoren (Theresa), Winfield, Ill. and a daughter, LeErin Hickey (Michael) of Wake Forest, N.C. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Nicole VanDoren, Alex VanDoren, David Hickey, Kendall Hickey, Kate Hickey and Rachel Hickey; and one brother, John (Linda) Clardy, Jefferson City, Mo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Sam Hickey. A private memorial service is planned at a later date.
