Ruth Kennison Yancey

Ruth Kennison Yancey, 94, of New Bloomfield, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 8, 2018 at home, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 20, 1923 in Fontana, North Carolina, the daughter of Lesle "Ernest" and Louise (Cheek) Kennison, who preceded her in death. She was united in marriage on March 20, 1948 in Omaha, Nebraska to William R. Yancey, who preceded her in death on August 29, 2013. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church and the American Contract Bridge League as a Life Member with two diamonds. She is survived by one daughter: Chick (Tim) Suggett of New Bloomfield; two sons: Richard "Dick" (Judy) Yancey of Indianapolis, Indiana and William "Billy" (Linda) Yancey of Lenexa, Kansas; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one son: Charles Woodrow, one daughter: Donna Ruth; two sisters; and three brothers. Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m- 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 12, 2018 at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Houser-Millard Chapel with Jim Shaver officiating. Interment will be private for the family.
