Raymond Matheis Fischer, 88, of Russellville, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at Capital Region Medical Center, surrounded by his family. He was born October 31, 1929, on the family farm near Lohman, Missouri, a son of the late Gustav and Erma (Linsenbardt) Fischer. On July 18, 1970, Raymond was united in marriage to Nola Strobel, who survives at their home. Raymond worked on the family farm until he was twenty-one years old. He was then Part Owner of Lohman Milling Corporation (Feed Store) with his brother Gustav Fischer, Jr. for 28 years, and then operated the Centertown Feed Store. Raymond also worked as a Corrections Officer for the Missouri Department of Corrections for 23 years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served from 1950 - 1954. Raymond served aboard the Navel Ship U.S.S. Rockbridge as a Machinist Mate, and docked in ports in France and Sicily. He also served as an ambulance driver on the East Coast. Raymond was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He always enjoyed farming with his son Devin. Along with his wife Nola, Raymond is also survived by a son: Devin Ray Fischer (wife Stacey) of Russellville; a daughter: Darla Kay Linhardt (husband Mike) of Russellville; a brother: Gustav Fischer Jr. (wife Jeannette) of Lohman; and a sister: Marie Fischer of Jefferson City. Raymond was also preceded in death by three brothers: Rudolph, Hilbert, and Alvin; and three sisters: Margaret, Dorothea, and Gertrude. Friends and family will be received from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 12, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 12, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Pastor Sam Powell officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
