Leona Marie Fick

Leona Marie Fick, age 85, of Meta, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City. She was born in Manilla, Iowa, on October 22, 1932, daughter of the late Lawrence and Adeline (Roecker) Zimmer. On October 11, 1952, in Brinktown, Leona married Aloysius "Al" John Fick, who preceded her in death on October 8, 2001. Leona and her family moved to Brinktown where she graduated from Maries R-I High School in 1950. Leona's many activities in life included working in Dr. Gates' office in Dixon, bookkeeping, and co-owner in Winkelman and Fick truck line. She volunteered at various places including St. Cecilia Catholic Church teaching CCD classes and at St. Elizabeth Nursing Home. Leona was a member of the over 50 Club as well as several other civic activities. She was a faithful member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta. She is survived by four sons, Dennis Fick (Joan) of Westphalia, Jerry Fick (Karen) of Meta, Bob Fick (Jean) of Rich Fountain, and Kenny Fick (Wilma) of Linn; two daughters, Carol Fick of Meta and Phyllis Byland (Bob) of Bonne Terre; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five siblings, Helen Winkelman of Jefferson City, Luella Fick of Dixon, Ivan Zimmer of Camden, Arkansas, Vernon Zimmer of Brinktown, and Larry Zimmer of Wardsville; two brothers-in-law, Jim Fick (Georgina) of Vienna and Ralph Fick of St. Louis; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 8, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta with Fr. Jeremy Secrist officiating. Interment will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery in Meta. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 4 p.m., on Wednesday, February 7, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta. Memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Meta.
