Dorothy Ann Boessen, 91, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at her home, surrounded by family. She was born on July 26, 1926, in Rich Fountain, Missouri, the daughter of John A. and Lydia G (Tillman) Lehmen, who preceded her in death. She was united in marriage at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jefferson City on September 14, 1948, to Harry J. Boessen, who preceded her in death on May 20, 1986. She was a 1945 graduate of Linn High School. She then was employed in St. Louis for one year before returning to Jefferson City, gaining employment in the State Capitol Inheritance Tax Department. In 1951, she accompanied her husband to Savannah, Georgia, while he served four years in the United States Air Force. Upon discharge from the military, they returned to their previous life of farming in Loose Creek before purchasing a farm in New Bloomfield. She was employed with the DES until her retirement in 1990. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Immaculata Club. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and playing the piano for her family. She was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. She is survived by one son: Roger J. Boessen and his wife Rachel of Lake Ozark, Missouri; one daughter: Joyce A. Green of New Bloomfield; one sister: Millie McMichael of Glendale, Arizona; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one son: Kevin Boessen; two sisters: Delphine Millette and Lorene Schmich and one brother: Arthur Lehmen. Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Don Antweiler officiating. Interment will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Expression of sympathy may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for masses or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
