Paul Michael "Mike" Gibson, 70, of Jefferson City, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born June 21, 1947, in Canton, Illinois, the son of the late William Calvin and Anna Lucille (Hansmeyer) Gibson. On February 16, 1974, in Pacific Grove, California, he married Viola Marie Weigel, who survives at the home. Mike drove a fuel truck for most of his career. In later years, he was a corrections officer for the Missouri State Corrections Department and did maintenance for A. L. Andres Janitorial Services. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and a past member of the Knights of Columbus. Other survivors include a daughter, Virgeline Weigel, Holts Summit; two granddaughters, Mariah (Matthew) Shinn, New Bloomfield and Rosemund Holtmeyer, Holts Summit; five great-granddaughters; a step-son, Justin Meisner, Colorado Springs, Colorado; a brother, William Calvin (Janice) Gibson, Jefferson City; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Hollister, Springfield, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Donald Wayne Gibson and Charles William Gibson. A Memorial Mass with military honors to follow will be 10 a.m., Thursday, September 14, 2017, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Donald W. Lammers officiating.
