Mary Alice Brandt

Mrs. Mary Alice Brandt, age 87 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Monday, September 4, 2017, at her home. Mary was born May 4, 1930 in Kansas City, Mo., a beloved adopted daughter of Clinton and Martha (Kitchen) Bledsoe. She was married on November 21, 1950 in Jefferson City, Mo. to Paul T. Brandt, who preceded her in death on February 9, 2011. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Mary was employed at International Shoe Factory and in the cafeteria at St. Peter School. Later, she was employed as a cook at the Prenger Family Center for 16 years prior to her retirement on May 1, 1995. Mary enjoyed gardening and was happiest when digging in the dirt. She loved to travel, often with the Classic Club, with her favorite trips being to Colorado, Alaska, and New York City. She was a great cook with special family meals but was especially known for her pies. Mary lived in the same neighborhood for almost 60 years. She cherished time spent with her dear friends and neighbors, Edris Horn and Shirley Spencer, while they solved their families' and the world's problems. Survivors include: three children, Lonnie Brandt and his wife Linda of Holts Summit, Mo., Paula Wekenborg and her husband Tom of Taos, Mo., and Jerry Brandt of Plainfield, Vermont; seven grandchildren, Carly Pena, Christina Holt, Lindsey Holt, Josh Wekenborg, Katie Wekenborg, Craig Wekenborg, and Archer Brandt; and five great-grandchildren, Holly Pena, Asher Pena, Kionna Holt, Connor Wekenborg and Bridger White. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 60 years, Paul. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 9, 2017. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 9, 2017 in the Freeman Chapel. Entombment will be held in the Mausoleum of Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Vogelweid Learning Center, 314 W. High Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
