Esther Caroline Rackers Winge, 94, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by her family. Esther was born January 21, 1923, in Jefferson City, the daughter of the late Theodore and Katherine (Wilbers) Rackers. She was united in marriage on November 13, 1943, in Jefferson City to the love of her life, Joseph William Winge Sr. of 68 years, who preceded her in death on May 8, 2012. Esther worked for Tweedie Shoe Factory, St. Mary's Hospital, Hospital Services Group, and was a seamstress for Gabberts Interiors. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Jefferson City. Esther enjoyed sewing, flower and vegetable gardening, dancing, and playing cards with friends and family. But what she loved the most was being with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Survivors include her four children, J. Kenneth (Helen) Winge, Gary (Kathy) Winge, Diane (Tom) Landwehr, Joyce (Dale) Slicker, all of Jefferson City; her 10 grandchildren, Keith Winge, Excelsior Springs; Theresa Heckman, Jefferson City; Bruce Winge, Jefferson City; Chad Winge, Jefferson City; Kimberly Lorentz, Fulton; Chris Landwehr, Jefferson City; Brad Slicker, Jefferson City; Sarah Lueckenotte, St. Louis; John Slicker, Tuscumbia; Phil Winge, Jefferson City; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one brother-in-law, Clarence Steinman. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband; four sisters, Adelle Kampeter, Viola VanLoo, Caroline Huhman, Anna Steinman; and two brothers, Elmer Rackers and Jerome Rackers. Visitation will be 4:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 22nd, 2017, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Joshua Duncan officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
