Dennis H. Gier

Dennis H. Gier, 74, of Eldon, Mo., passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at his residence in Eldon, Mo. He was born September 2, 1942, in Bagnell, Mo., the son of the late Charles W. and Lula G. (Scott) Gier. On December 1, 1962, in Lake Ozark, Mo., he was united in marriage to Margaret (Johnston) Gier, who survives of the home. Dennis was a 1960 graduate of School of the Osage and was one of the members of the very first Osage football team. Dennis was baptized at Bagnell Baptist Church in 1952. He was employed for over 40 years in the marina industry working at both Port Arrowhead and Lodge of the Four Seasons. After his retirement from the marina industry, he started G&G Homes and built and remodeled homes. Other survivors include his son, Dan Gier (Stacy) of Lake Ozark, Mo.; daughter, Sandy Gier (Greg Pruitt) of Jefferson City, Mo.; step-grandchildren, Tricia Parker (Dustin) of Dallas, Texas, Christy Staggs (Jared) of Dallas, Texas, Eryn Pruitt and Emme Pruitt of Eldon, Mo.; step-great-grandson, Benjamin Parker of Dallas, Texas; sister, Connie L. Cardwell (Jim) of Eldon, Mo.; brother, Steve Gier of Eldon, Mo.; brother-in-law, Charles Brown of Eldon, Mo; and several nieces and nephews. Two sisters, Judy Brown and Sue Comstock; and one brother-in-law, Dan Comstock, preceded him in death. Visitation will be Saturday, January 21, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, Mo., with the Funeral Service beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Phil Gier officiating. Interment will follow at the Eldon City Cemetery. Memorials in his name are suggested In Care of the Family. Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, Mo.
