Mrs. Juanita Nichols Scharz, age 90 years, of Jefferson City, formerly of North Kansas City, Mo., passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017. Juanita was born on January 22, 1926 in Jefferson City, Mo., a daughter of the late Elmon and Ethel (Sapp) Nichols. She was a 1944 graduate of Jefferson City High School. Juanita was married on December 15, 1973 to Robert D. Scharz, who preceded her in death on September 10, 2012. She was employed with the Department of Finance before she moved to North Kansas City, Mo. in 1973, where she lived for the next 39 years. In November, 2012, she moved back to Jefferson City to be closer to her family, where she was able to live independently up until four days prior to her passing. Juanita was a member of Woodcrest Baptist Church, Ashland, Mo. Juanita was a dedicated homemaker and hard worker. She was very active in helping other people, whether it was providing them with meals, health care, or running their errands when needed. She was kind to everyone and always so polite and respectful of others. She loved to garden and especially loved her birds. She was known for her cooking and amazing cut-out butter cookies, which she was still rolling out at age 90. She was a devoted wife and mother, and very proud of her family. She was especially proud of her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Her home in North Kansas City was referred to as "camp mama's". She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include: one daughter, Brunita England and her husband Trip of Jefferson City, Mo.; one son, Allen Hedrick and his wife Susan of Lake Ozark, Mo.; three grandchildren, Hank England of Lake Ozark, Mo., Callie England of Kansas City, Mo., and Kyle Hedrick and his wife Ashlee of Jefferson City, Mo.; one great-grandchild, Owen Hedrick; and one beloved sister, Colleen Nichols of Jefferson City, Mo. Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m., Friday, January 20, 2017. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Chaplain Bill Smart officiating. A private family graveside service will be held at Woodcrest Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Ashland, Mo. at a later date.
