Ronald "Doc" Dean Thornburg

Ronald "Doc" Dean Thornburg, 79, of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at Landmark Hospital. He was born in Jefferson City, the son of the late Harold and Alta (Maples) Thornburg. On May 31, 1957, he was united in marriage to Catherine Evers, and she preceded him in death on April 19, 2011. Ronald was a 1955 graduate of Jefferson City High School. He was employed with Von Hoffmann Press for 30 years, where he retired. He served in the United States Navy Reserves from 1955 to 1956, being stationed in Hawaii. Ronald was a member of Eagles Club, Aerie 2693, American Legion Post 5 and Redfield Golf Club. He was a regular camper at Montauk State Park where he had many friends and was well known for his ornery sense of humor. Ronald enjoyed fishing, golfing and playing cards. He is survived by five children: Keith Thornburg (Shari) of Jefferson City, Karen Myers (Kevin) of St. Martins, Dan Thornburg of Jefferson City, Terry Thornburg of Jefferson City and Kim Stockman (Kyle) of Kansas City, Missouri; seven grandchildren: Taylor Thornburg, Megan Thornburg, Cammie Higgenbotham, Melissa Petty, Kayla Cole, Katie Lehmen and Elizabeth Lehmen; two great-grandchildren: Makai Petty and Kennedy Durham. He was preceded in death by two children: Diane Thornburg March 4, 1977 and Michael Thornburg February 28, 1965. Friends will be received from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2017, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Memorial Services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Dave Henry officiating.
