Shirley Dunavant

Shirley Dunavant, 95, of Weatherby Lake, Mo., formerly of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017. She was born on July 9, 1921, to Earl and Mary (Vrobeck) Stott in Toledo, Ohio where she grew up and graduated from high school. On April 5, 1945, she was united in marriage to Les Dunavant. After their marriage, they lived in Mexico, Mo. and in August of 1958, they moved to Jefferson City, Mo. Les passed away on March 24, 2001. After the death of her husband, Shirley moved to Weatherby Lake, Mo. Shirley was a gifted interior decorator for 50 years in Jefferson City. She made the draperies that still hang in the Governor's Mansion and Missouri Legislature. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Betty Snyder and June Reading. Shirley is survived by her four children, Greg Dunavant, Atlanta, Ga., Nancy and Bill King, Weatherby Lake, Mo., David Dunavant, Chesterfield, Mo., Kathy and Rick Jester, Springfield, Mo.; eight grandchildren, James, Michael, Karen, Stephanie, Julia, Amy, Andy and Daniel; and nine great-grandchildren.
