Harold L. Leydens, 83, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility. He was born June 15, 1933, in Pella, Iowa, the son of the late John and Cornelia (Kleinendorst) Leydens. He was a graduate of Pella High School in Pella, Iowa, and went on to attend Central College in Pella, Iowa. Harold was united in marriage on January 1, 1983, in Jefferson City, to Frances Reed, who survives at their home. Harold owned and operated Berlin-Wheeler, Inc. in Jefferson City since 1970. He was an active member of the Missouri Collectors Association, where he served as past President. An annual college scholarship is handed out annually by the MCA in his honor. He was also an active member of the American Collectors Association where he served in various leadership positions. Harold was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW, and was also the oldest living member of the Cosmopolitan Club in Jefferson City, where he had been a member for over 40 years. He served in the Cosmos in various positions including past President. Harold enjoyed riding motorcycles, R.V. traveling around the world with Frances, was a pilot of his own airplane and an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. He also loved spending time driving around in his convertible 1959 Ford Skyliner. Harold was politically minded and enjoyed debating with all friends. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Along with his wife Frances, Harold is also survived by three children: Mary Kay Frazier (husband Craig) of Springfield; Joey L. Leydens (wife Anna) of Jefferson City; Karen K. Leydens of Jefferson City; one step-daughter: Cyndi Tolbert (husband Mike) of Jefferson City; nine grandchildren: Taryn, Sheala, Dalton, Ryan, Jeri, Kaylee, Dillon, Garrett, and Carson; and six great-grandchildren. Harold was also preceded in death by two sisters: Bea Rosenman and Jenella Hull. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with Pastor Joe Skiles officiating. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Cosmopolitan Club in Jefferson City.
