Dorothy S. Shiver, 90, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday April 17, 2017 at Oak Tree Villa. She was born July 20, 1926 in Chamois, Missouri, the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Ella H. (Starke) Budnik. On June 8, 1946, she was united in marriage to Fred. H. Shiver. He preceded her in death. Dorothy attended Assumption Catholic School in Morrison. She retired from the Missouri Department of Vital Records. Dorothy was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling, making numerous trips across the United States and visiting all the lower 48 states. Dorothy also enjoyed going to garage sales, antiquing, embroidering, and working in her flower garden. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and watching her St. Louis Cardinals. She is survived by one son: Freddie J. Shiver (Jane) of Chamois; four daughters: Darline Copeland (Tom), Debby Contryman (Rick), Patty Doerhoff (Randy) and Becky Dickey (Roger), all of Jefferson City; 10 grandchildren: Debbie Johnson (Ron) of Yorktown, Virginia; Stacey Davis (Mark) of California, Missouri; Melanie Thompson (Shawn) of Jefferson City; Tommie Reilly (Kevin) of Detroit, Michigan; Freddie Shiver Jr. (Tracy) of Vienna; Melissa Scheperle (Larry) of Jefferson City; Wesley Doerhoff (Jennifer) of St. Elizabeth; Janah Massman (Steve) of Westphalia; Jennifer Bish (Nick) of Jefferson City; and Andrew Doerhoff of Jefferson City; and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five siblings: Herbert Budnik, Albert Budnik, Una Milster, Delma Stegeman and Bernadine Nichols. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Houser-Millard Funeral Home where Funeral Services will follow. Graveside Services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Assumption Catholic Cemetery Morrison, Missouri. Expression of sympathy may be made to Assumption Catholic Cemetery or Samaritan Center.
