Berthe Marie "Bert" Fairhead

Berthe Marie "Bert" Fairhead, 98, of East Moline, Ill., formerly of Jefferson City, Mo., died Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Aperion Care Center, East Moline, Ill. Berthe Marie was born June 29, 1918, in Newell, Iowa, the daughter of Emil and Johanna (Jensen) Christiansen. She was educated in Cedar Falls and married Arthur F. Fairhead of Rockford, Ill., in 1948. He preceded her in death in 1980. Mrs. Fairhead worked at Ingersoll Milling Machine Co. in Rockford and was the Secretary to the Vice President prior to marriage. She was also a hospital volunteer for several years. She moved to East Moline in recent years to be near her sister. She loved and cherished her dogs throughout her years. Mrs. Fairhead is survived by her niece, Sonja (Larry) Melton, Moline, Ill.; nephews, Larry Craig, Grundy Center, Iowa, David (Jaqueline) Craig, Waterloo, Iowa; nine great-nieces and nephews; and 23 great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters, Ruth (Earl) Beard and Marvyl Craig. Graveside Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Greenwood Cemetery, 404 N. College St., Cedar Falls, IA. There will be no visitation.
