Mrs. Teresa E. Slicker, 100, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at Summit Villa Assisted Living Center, Holts Summit, Mo. Teresa was born February 20, 1916, in Linn, Mo., the daughter of Herman J. and Catherine A. (Nilges) Maasen, the eighth of 12 children. She was married on September 16, 1939, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City, Mo., to Arthur L. Slicker, who preceded her in death on August 4, 1971. She attended Lone Star School and St. George School in Linn, Mo. She was a homemaker and was employed by Oberman Manufacturing Co. and later, Memorial Community Hospital. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church where she was a member of St. Anne's Sodality and Sew and Sews quilting group. She has been a long time member of Daughters of Isabella, Glennon Circle #322. She was active in several senior citizens groups and enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, and bingo. She enjoyed traveling, cruising, and sight-seeing, having traveled to 48 of the 50 states. Her pastimes included quilting, crocheting, needlework and other crafts. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and family. The memories they made will forever be cherished. Survivors include: three daughters, Emilie (Roger) Borgmeyer of Meta, Mo., Carolyn (Kenneth) Haile of Osage Beach, Mo., and Laura (Felix) Wieberg of Holts Summit, Mo.; two sons, Dale (Joyce) Slicker of Jefferson City, Mo. and Kenneth (Deborah) Slicker of McDonough, Ga.; 11 grandchildren, Steven Borgmeyer, Kevin Borgmeyer, Jeannine Jones, Brian Haile, Michael Haile, Douglas Wieberg, Dennis Wieberg, Brad Slicker, John Slicker, David Slicker and Karen Sherrill; 15 great-grandchildren, Teresa Borgmeyer, Katelyn Bock, Jacob Jones, John Jones, Jeremiah Haile, Kayla Long, Ashley Wieberg, Andrea Wieberg, Addison Slicker, Joseph Slicker, Brooklynn Slicker, Logan Slicker, Lauren Slicker, Jackson Sherrill and Jonas Sherrill; one sister, Martha (Wilfred) Toebben of Jefferson City, Mo.; and one brother, Leo (Angeline) Maasen of Jefferson City; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was to be a great-great grandmother in November. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; seven sisters, Mary (Hugo) Schlueter, Anna (Edwin) Rackers, Agnes (Albert) Knott, Lena (Harold) Thrash and Josephine Maasen; two infant sisters, Amelia and Louise; and two brothers, George (Margaret) Maasen and William (Leona) Maasen. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 22, 2016, with a Prayer Service at 4:30 p.m. at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2016, at St. Peter Catholic Church with Fr. Simeon Etonu celebrating Mass. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Hospice Compassus.
