Clara Mae Armstrong Landers

Mrs. Clara Mae Armstrong Landers, age 89 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Saturday, December 3, 2016, at Jefferson City Manor Care Center. She was born on August 3, 1927 in Jefferson City, Mo., a daughter of the late Windsor and Maude (Garrison) Shields. She was married on March 17, 1945 in St. Charles, Mo., to Charles L. Armstrong, who preceded her in death on June 6, 1964. She later married Arthur D. Landers on September 10, 1966 at Immaculate Conception Church in Jefferson City, Mo., and he also preceded her in death on May 7, 2011. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Clara attended Jefferson City Public Schools. She began her career working at Tweedie Shoe Factory for 14 years. She was later employed with State of Missouri Division of Design and Construction for 17 years until her retirement in August 1984. She was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church in Holts Summit, Mo. Survivors include: three sons, Charles E. Armstrong (Mary Sue) of Holts Summit, Mo., Gary Armstrong (Cheryl) of New Bloomfield, Mo. and Steve Armstrong (Joyce) of Holts Summit, Mo.; one daughter, Janet Johnson (Robert) of Jefferson City, Mo.; one step-daughter, Linda Kelley (Jeff) of Jefferson City, Mo.; three step-sons, Danny Landers (Vicki) of Holts Summit, Mo., Ronnie Landers (Cheri) of Holts Summit, Mo. and Larry Landers (Kim) of Holts Summit, Mo.; and three grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren with one on the way, and five step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Kathy Owens; two sisters, Katherine Finn and Helen Koelling; one brother, Edward Shields; and two step-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 7, 2016. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 7, 2016 in the Freeman Chapel. Graveside services will be held at Riverview Cemetery.
