Cletus Charles Sallin, age 85 of Linn, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, under the attentive care of Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, surrounded by his loving family. Cletus was born February 24, 1931, in Osage County, the son of the late Peter and Hilda (Nilges) Sallin. Cletus was united in marriage on January 25, 1958, in Linn, to Delorce Helmig, who survives at the home. Cletus served his country in the United States Army from 1952-1954. He worked as a cook for the U.S. Corps of Engineers on the Mitchell and the Black from 1954-1959 and as a carpenter for the rest of his working life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. Other survivors include: four children, Denise Cross and her husband Roger of Linn, Debra Michel and her husband Denny of Hartshorn, Mo., Dinah Gastineau of Columbia and Keith Sallin of Linn; three grandchildren, Scott Michel and his wife Amanda, Stephanie Goetz and her husband Mike and Amelia Sallin; four great-grandchildren, Hailey, Whitney and Sadie Michel and Kaylin Hornseth; along with many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Cletus was preceded in death by seven brothers and three sisters. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 26, 2016, at Morton Chapel in Linn. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at Morton Chapel in Linn. Interment will follow in Lane Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Lane Cemetery or the family.
