Earl D. Miller

Dr. Earl D. Miller, age 67, of Russellville, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016, at his home. He was born June 1, 1949, in Ottumwa, Iowa, a son of William Vernon and Dorothy Marie Havens Miller. Earl was united in marriage to Phyllis Wittenberger on April 14, 1974, at her parents' home in California. He was a 1965 graduate of Greentop High School and a 1973 graduate of the College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville. Doc Miller began his medical practice with the Charles E. Still Hospital in Jefferson City. He helped establish and co-owned Patient Care, Inc. in Jefferson City and Russellville, where he practiced medicine for many years before moving the medical office to Jefferson City. In 2014, Patient Care, Inc. was purchased by Capital Region Medical Center. Doc Miller continued to provide medical care to his patients at Capital Region Medical Center and Scholastics Wellness Center until his own health recently failed him. He also raised cattle on his farm near Russellville. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Miller of the home; three children, Patrick (VanDee) Miller of California, Nathan (Beth) Miller of Jefferson City and Rebecca (Daryl Matheis) Miller of Russellville; six grandchildren, Justice Miller, Andrew Miller, Bryce Berendzen, Sara Miller, Sophia Miller and Bruce Miller; one brother, Ralph Miller of Greentop; his mother-in-law, Doris Wittenberger of Jefferson City; sister-in-law, Evelyn (Gary) Wingate of Charlotte, N.C.; four nieces and one nephew and their families, along with other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant sister and his father-in-law, Eugene Wittenberger. The family will receive friends from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, August 26, at the Russellville Baptist Church, 5209 Simpson Street, Russellville, MO 65074. Memorial contributions are suggested to the CRMC Foundation-for the improvement and advancement of the Capital Region Physicians Occupational Medicine Clinic.
