Jerome George Plassmeyer

Jerome George (Jerry) Plassmeyer, 89, of Owensville, Mpo., died Sunday, September 22, 2013, at Adams Street Skilled Care in Jefferson City, Mo. Jerry was born in Argyle, Mo., on February 19, 1924, to the late Bernard and Pauline (Schell) Plassmeyer. On June 9, 1948, he married Eleanor Winter in Owensville. He served his country with honors in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Signalman. He was assigned to one ship for duty, however; he and his buddy got on the wrong ship, the USS Rocky Mount, which carried the Admiral. Since they were short a couple of men, the admiral kept them on the USS Rocky Mount. Jerry owned and operated Jerry's Bar for 30 years, now known as Bogey's in Owensville. Through the years, he served on the Park Board of Owensville several times,was a charter member of VFW Post 6133 and Owensville Lion's Club. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and Knights of Columbus. His survivors include one son, David Plassmeyer and wife Rhonda of Lebanon, Mo.; and one daughter, Sheila Meyer and husband John of Jefferson City; two sisters, Mary Ann Blaske and husband Gene of Owensville and Betty Biermann of Sullivan; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Winter and his parents. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at 10:00 A.M. at Immaculate Conception Church in Owensville with Fr. Francis Doyle officiating. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery of Owensville. Arrangements under the direction of Gottenstroeter Funeral Home.
