Carol J. Stegeman, 77, of Hartsburg, Missouri, passed away Monday, November 25, 2013, at St. Joseph's Bluffs in Jefferson City. She was born September 26, 1936, in Jefferson City, Missouri, the daughter of the late Lewis and Golda (Sappenfield) Moreau. She was a graduate of Jefferson City High School, where she was a Jayette in the Pep Club. She also attended Jefferson City Junior College. She was married to Leonard H. "Kraut" Stegeman, who preceded her in death. She then was united in marriage to Terry Sears, who also preceded her in death. Carol and her husband Leonard owned and operated Capitol Vending Service and Central Missouri Vending Service. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Jefferson City, the Ashland Garden Club, the Hartsburg Extension Club, and the Southern Boone PTA. She enjoyed flower arranging, gardening, and working in the yard. In her early years, she also enjoyed synchronized swimming, ice skating and water ballet. Most of all, she loved attending her grandchildren's activities. Carol is survived by three sons: Steve Stegeman (wife Susan) of Jefferson City, Christopher Stegeman (wife Brenda) of Jefferson City, and Michael Stegeman (wife Julie) of Jefferson City; and eight grandchildren: Scott, Seth, Brittany, Halie, Allison, Devon, Brock and Dylen Stegeman. She was also preceded in death by a brother: Don Moreau. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 29, 2013, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 29, 2013, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Ashland Garden Club to be used for scholarships.
