Mary Lou Reed

Mary Lou Reed, 77, of Westphalia, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at St. Mary's Health Center. She was born December 4, 1935, in Jefferson City, Missouri, the daughter of the late Thomas Robert and Pauline (Harris) Howard. On June 3, 1995, she was united in marriage to Jerold Reed, who survives that the home. Mary was a 1954 graduate of Jefferson City High School. She was employed with Von Hoffman Press where she retired after 30 years of service. Mary was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church at Schubert. Mary loved to garden. She enjoyed traveling and cooking for her family and friends. Mary was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball and NASCAR racing fan. Mary got to watch the final race of the season on Sunday rooting for her favorite driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. Along with her husband Jerry, she is survived by three step-children: Jeremy Reed (Margaret) of North Pole, Alaska, Johnathan Locke (Star) of Holts Summit and Jennifer Locke of Holts Summit; one sister: Jo Ann Brown of Jefferson City and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four siblings: Virginia Scheuler, Thomas Robert Howard Jr., Jerry Lee Howard and David Lee Howard. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2013, at Houser-Millard Funeral Home where funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Murl Nash officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverview Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Charity of the Donor's Choice.
