Mildred Sue Herzing, age 75, of Freeburg, departed this life Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Westphalia Hills, Westphalia. She was born December 28, 1937, at Mexico, in Audrain County, a daughter of Edward and Mildred (Smith) Paschal. Mrs. Herzing was united in marriage on April 4, 1959, at Jefferson City, to Louis Bernard Herzing Jr., and to this union, five children were born. Mrs. Herzing was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg. During her working life she did secretarial and clerical work at the Highway Patrol General Headquarters, Jefferson City, in the Evidence Department for 25 years retiring in 2000. Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Herzing include her husband: Louis Herzing Jr., of the home in Freeburg; three sons: Randy Herzing, Freeburg; Keith Herzing and wife Shelly, Westphalia; and Kent Herzing and wife Laurie, Taos; two daughters: Pam Mietzner and husband Joel, Jefferson City; and Cara Wright and husband Duke, Gold Canyon, Arizona; one brother: Ed Paschal and wife Elaine, Jefferson City; three sisters: Betty Hertzing and husband Ray, Judy Jenkins and husband Charles, and Darlene Gilmore and husband Rick Henson, all of Jefferson City; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five step-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Brent Wayne Herzing on November 23, 1987; and one son-in-law, Harry Rackers. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mrs. Herzing at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 15, 2013, in the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, with the Rev. Phil Niekamp celebrating. Interment will be in the Holy Family Cemetery, Freeburg, under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. A Prayer Service will be held at 3:30 p.m., followed by visitation from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2013, and 9-10 a.m., Friday, March 15, 2013, all in the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg.
