Ronald L. Huston, age 80, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, surrounded by his family after a year long battle with cancer. He was born June 23, 1932, in Oklahoma City, the son of Charles A. Huston and Altha Opal (Tibbetts) Huston. On November 17, 1961, Ronald was united in marriage to Jancie M. Jewett, who survives at their home. Ronald attended and graduated from the Pomona Unified School district where he was then employed for 29 years. He worked for the Jefferson City public school system for six years. Ronald was a proud veteran of the United States Army. His love of history and the military never diminished. Ronald loved to travel. He was a talented woodworker. He was a fan of the Oakland A's, cowboy movies, bluegrass and gospel music. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church. His greatest joy was the time he spent with his family. He loved them all and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Along with his loving wife, Janice, Ronald is survived by their two daughters: Rhonda M. and Patrick Swaggerty of Fairfield, Calif.; Jennifer L. and Michael Hoogveld of Jefferson City, Mo.; one sister: Donna and Ronald Zachman of Chino, Calif.; three grandchildren: Holly, Joseph, Michael; and four great-grandchildren: Alexia, Aidan, Caden and Evan. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and two brothers. Friends will be received from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 21, 2013, at the Central Baptist Church where funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Ted Huston officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations are suggested to Central Baptist Church Building Fund.
