Elizabeth Ann Driver

Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Driver, age 90 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Heisinger Bluffs. Mrs. Driver was born on October 10, 1922, in Holyoke, Colo., the daughter of the late Pearl Schaeffer Crow and Gooley C. Crow. She married Joseph Dean Driver on June 18, 1943, at Mound City, Mo. After returning with her family to Missouri as a young child, Mrs. Driver lived in the Mound City area and graduated from Mound City High School in 1940. Following her marriage, she moved to different posts with her husband during World War II while he served in the 128th Field Artillery Regimental Band. After his deployment to Korea with the 5th Regimental Combat Team, she and her daughters joined him for a year in Okinawa. The rest of her life was spent in Missouri. The Drivers moved to Jefferson City in 1963. A devoted mother, known for a cheerful spirit and sparkling smile, she was a full-time homemaker, a teacher of children's Sunday school and involved in her children's school and extra-curricular activities. She served as a Cub Scout Leader and room mother both in Jefferson City and Maryville where she lived for a number of years. After moving to Jefferson City, she became a charter member of Community Christian Church where she was active in many programs. She also has been a member of First Christian Church. A wonderful cook and until recently an avid bridge player, she loved spending time with family and friends, and especially interacting with her grandchildren. Her family remembers her favorite quotation as: "Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle." She lived her life being considerate to everyone and always thought of others before herself. Survivors include: her husband of almost 70 years, Joseph Dean Driver of Heisinger Bluffs; three children, Tanya L. Pitzer (Jack) of Alexandria, Virginia; DeAnn Ege (Robert) of Harrisburg, Mo.; and Robert D. Driver (Jamie) of St. Louis, Mo.; two sisters, Lucille Norman and Vona Moorman of Mound City, Mo.; five grandchildren; one step-grandchild; two great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews living in many parts of the United States from California to Florida. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Harvey Crow, Howard Crow, and Robert Crow; and one sister, Marguerite Laukemper. Visitation will be at Community Christian Church from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2013. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m Sunday, June 23, 2013, at the Community Christian Church with the Reverend David Avery officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Columbarium of Community Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the National PKU Alliance (NPKUA) P.O.
