Simon Kumeso Makanda

Simon Kumeso Makanda, 49, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, following injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on Highway 65. He was born on June 4, 1964, in Kimadiata (Democratic Republic of Congo), the son of the late Elonia Kifulu and Marie Meka. Simon was united in marriage to Constantine Nsansi, who survives at the home. After completing high school, Simon worked as a teacher before starting his own business in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, where he lived before moving to the United States. Simon was passionate about soccer and as a businessman. He was the president of 17 soccer teams. He also loved spending time with his family and friends. Along with his wife, he is survived by his six children: Hardy Kumeso, Merveille Bukaka Kumeso, Rabi Muyeka Kumeso, Euxause Nkunku Kumeso, Christella Nzumbu Kumeso, and Sarah Bikumbu Kumeso, all of Jefferson City. Friends will be received from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, at First Assembly of God, where Funeral Services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Simon Kumeso Makanda Family.
