Marie Elizabeth Borgmeyer, 88, of Taos, Mo., passed from this world to eternal peace on New Year's Day - Tuesday, January 1, 2013, surrounded by her children. She was born October 7, 1924, in Meta, Mo., the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Koerber. She was married October 22, 1946, at St Cecilia Catholic Church, Meta, to Ray Borgmeyer, who preceded her in death on December 6, 2011. Marie was a member of the Saint Francis Xavier Church and Treasurer of the Quilting Circle. She was very active in the parish serving on the School Board and chairman of the Country Store for over 30 years. She coordinated food preparations for weddings, funerals and other events in the parish for many years. She worked for Boessen Catering for several years and worked on the Cole County Election Polls for 33 years. Marie was a homemaker, loving mother, neighbor and friend. She was always willing to help others in need and put others before herself. Many a meal was served in her home and she always had plenty of food. Marie's children were her pride and joy. She is survived by one sister: Mildred Bielicki, Meta; one brother: Jerome Koerber, St. Louis; six daughters: Dolores Thompson (Rich Lee) Reno, Nev.; Laurale (Greg) Gerling, Covington, Ga.; Carol (Phillip) Ortbals, Taos; Germaine (Harry) Renn, Holts Summit; Ramona (Chris) Haller, Springfield; and Donna (Bob) Osterlund, Stilwell, Kan.; three sons: Albert (Donna) Borgmeyer, Taos; Kenny (Debbie) Borgmeyer, Taos; and Dr. Roger (Peggy) Borgmeyer, California; 19 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one step- great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Lucas Borgmeyer, and one brother, Edward Koerber. Friends will be received from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2013, at the Taos Knights of Columbus Hall with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 4, 2013, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Taos, with Fr. Wayne M. Boyer officiating. Additional visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday at the church. Interment will follow in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Francis Xavier Church Cemetery Association or the St. Francis Xavier Church.
