Kevin Dale Cavaness, 56, of Honey Creek, died Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at his home. He was born October 15, 1956, in Eldorado, Ill. He was a 1974 graduate of Parkway Central High School in Chesterfield and a 1980 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. On October 23, 1982, Kevin was united in marriage to Charli Ann Haun, who survives at their home. Kevin worked for Central Technology Services in Jefferson City until illness forced his retirement. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church at Honey Creek, Redfield Golf and Country Club, United Sportsmen's Club, National Rifle Association and Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. Kevin enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and listening to music. He prided himself in being a great husband and wonderful family man. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife Charli, Kevin is survived by four children: Shannon Lage and husband Josh of Henley, Brandon Cavaness, Barron Cavaness and Allyson Cavaness all of Honey Creek; his mother, Marian Green of Columbia; one brother, Patrick Cavaness of Columbia; and two grandchildren, Trenton and Tanner Lage. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kelli Ann Cavaness, on September 27, 1985, and two brothers, Mark Cavaness and Sean Cavaness. Friends will be received from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 1, 2013, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Jeffrey Schanbacher officiating. Interment will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice Compassus.
