Matilda A. Bax

Mrs. Matilda A. Bax, age 96 years, of Wardsville, Mo., died Friday, November 29, 2013, at the Jefferson City Manor Nursing Center. Matilda was born November 29, 1917, in Meta, Mo., the daughter of Ben and Elizabeth Scheulen Kroll. She was married on November 12, 1945, in Meta, Mo. to Al B. Bax who preceded her in death on December 11, 1995. A lifelong resident of the Meta and Wardsville area, Matilda was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. She was employed with St. Mary's Health Center in the Surgery Department for many years prior to her retirement in 1975. Everyone who knew Matilda enjoyed her home cooked meals. She loved to quilt, play cards, and spend time with her family. Survivors include: two sons, James Bax and his wife Eula of Amarillo, Texas and Charles Bax and his wife Lois of Jefferson City, Mo.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Al. Visitation will be at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 2, 2013. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 2, 2013, at St. Stanislaus Church with the Reverend Greg Meystrik officiating. Private graveside services and interment will be conducted at St. Cecilia Cemetery in Meta, Mo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Wardsville, Mo.
