Sister Geri Eveler, 83, formerly of Jefferson City, passed away on April 13, 2013, in San Antonio, Texas. Geraldine Eveler was born April 10, 1930, in Jefferson City, Missouri, the daughter of the late John and Leona (Schulte) Eveler. She entered the congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word of San Antonio, Texas on September 7, 1945, and spent 65 years as a professed religious. Sister Geri taught all grades, kindergarten through college, in Missouri, Illinois, Texas and Mexico City, Mexico and was principal for 10 of those years. She then did parish ministry in Lebanon, St. Louis, Columbia and Mexico, Missouri for 12 years, one year as a Patient Representative at Incarnate Word Hospital in St. Louis and two years as a travel agent in St. Charles, Missouri. While in parish ministry she led several pilgrimages to the Holy Land. Coming to San Antonio in 1994, she spent six years as a driver at Incarnate Word Retirement Community from which she retired on April 10, 2000. In retirement she became a Certified Laughter Leader and also volunteered at the Children's Shelter and Christus Santa Rosa Health Center. Sister Geri is preceded in death by her parents, Leona Schulte Eveler Forck and John Eveler; brother-in-law, Gerry Olson and stepbrother, Thomas Forck. She is survived by one brother Tommy Eveler (Melba) of Humble, Texas; sisters, Billye Olson of Ft. Worth, Texas, Sister Josetta Eveler of Jefferson City, Mo., Mickey (Larry) Stokes of Lawton, Okla., Josetta (Joe) Forck of Jefferson City, Mo.; step brothers, Jerome (Marilyn) Forck, Donald (Dolores) Forck, Ronald (Patricia) Forck, Tim (Pauline) Forck, and step sister-in-law, Debbie Forck, all of Jefferson City. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. Sister Geri loved prayer, reading, gardening, walking, traveling, leading laughter sessions and genealogy. She researched and recorded all four sides of her family history. Funeral services for Sister Geri will be on Saturday, April 20, at 11:00 a.m., at the Chapel of the Incarnate Word with visitation at 6:30 p.m., Friday, April 19, at the St. Joseph's Chapel. Interment will be in Incarnate Word Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Incarnate Word Sisters Retirement Fund, 4503 Broadway, San Antonio, TX 78209-6215.
